IT PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Istanbul Airport — IT Systems & Infrastructure Transition

Business challenge

The transition to Istanbul Airport required the coordinated relocation and operational readiness of more than 400 IT systems and 5,000 technology assets. IT activities needed to align with the airport-wide relocation plan while minimizing operational disruption.

Role & responsibilities

As an IT Project Manager, I coordinated IT project planning and delivery activities across multiple teams and stakeholders. My responsibilities included aligning the IT schedule with eight major relocation workstreams, preparing risk and mitigation plans, coordinating technology asset relocation requirements, supporting budget planning, and tracking infrastructure readiness.

Technologies & approach

The work combined integrated project scheduling, cross-functional coordination, infrastructure preparation, system integration testing, equipment relocation planning, operational readiness checks, and end-to-end passenger journey simulations. During the transition, IT activities were coordinated according to operational priorities, followed by system monitoring after passenger operations began.

Business impact

The airport-wide relocation, originally planned within a 45-hour window, was completed in 13 hours. The IT transition contributed to the coordinated readiness of critical technology infrastructure and systems supporting the start of operations at the new airport.
